27歳で死ぬロックスターの一群を「愚か者クラブ」と呼んだのは、カートコバーンの母親だっただろうか。83年生まれのミュージシャンがいま生き残ってしまったとして、彼は37歳。愚か者にならずに済んだ、愚か者になれなかったこの10年をどう振り返るだろうか。高齢化が急速に進む世界的な潮流、モラトリアムの期間がどんどん後ろに倒されていく一方で、この国では成人年齢が18歳に引き下げられ、小学生相手のキャリア教育が盛んに喧伝され、出来るだけ早く「何者かに（つまり社会の役に立つ一要素に）」なることを要求される。３０代後半〜４０代、氷河期世代ともロスト・ジェネレーションとも呼ばれる年齢層は、何者にもなれないまま時代をずっと漂流してきた。そのうちの誰かが、ノートに書きつけたか、河川敷で空き缶を蹴りながら呟いたか、鏡の中の自分の姿を睨みつけながら言い聞かせたか、街やラジオやタイムラインに流れるそういう静かな感情を取り出してみようとしたら、こんな歌詞になった。
